What kind of ice skates do you use for public skating?

the jagged thing is a toe pick and this helps with jumps, the skates without toe picks are called hockey skates, toe picks doesn't make skating any easier or harder they have advantages and disadvantages, if you want to take up ice hockey you want the smooth blade as the toe picks will stop you if you want to take up figure skating then use figure skates as the toe picks are used for tricks and so are the rockers (next to toe picks)

The jaggedy thing is a toepick. The toepick should not be used for pushing off to go faster, you are more likely to trip in that case. When you skate you should be pushing with your whole blade rather than the toepick. The toepick is only to be used for jumping, which you shouldn't do if you don't know how to properly skate or know any of the basics. :) Here is a video that will show how to properly push off with your skates. Do not do anything else until you can properly do that.... and know how to stop.

The ones with the "jaggedy thing" on the front are figure skates. You know, like they wear in the olympics for figure skating and ice dancing. The Jaggedy thing is not for pushing off to go fast. Learn to skate and then call back.
