Answer:
I think 40 dollars ice skates is cheap. because usually the every figure skater buy ice skates that are really expensive. And they are about more than $150. and if you buy ice skates that are cheap then the blade will get damage quickly even you change your ice skates about once or twice a month. I would recommend Jackson Ultima skates, Riedell skates, and Girl's Harlick Competitor Figure Skates. You will definitely need blade guards. You might need gloves, fluffy blade covers, and Ultracrash Ice Skater Hip Crash Pad.

Usually 60-80 dollars is good. I got mine for 90 because men's pairs usually cost more. But yeah, 40 dollars is too cheap, the blade quality and interior padding wouldn't be as good as a 70 dollar boot.

I have Ridell figure skates with a professional blade and the blades have a lazer etched design on them. My skates total cost just under 1,000 but I am also a figure skating coach and I do many competitions. My first skates were ones that I got in the sports section of the local Dakotamart. They were maybe 60-70$ but the blades rusted easily and they had ZERO ankle support, which in my opinion is a huge factor to being able to do moves easily and safely. You don't have to have any certain brand but 2 good ones are Ridell and Jackson. some supplies I would suggest are: 1. soakers (fat soakers work better) 2. skating bag 3. blade guards 4. snow seal (to prevent the warping of the leather) 5. microfiber towel (to dry skates well) 6. extra laces 7. skating tights 8. skating skirt and/or cotton sweatpant capris

Go to play it again sports, you do know there are $300 pairs out there, I got mine new for $80 enjoy :)
Mine were 200 dollars! If your just starting then I think the ones your looking at are good. But buying skates online is a little sketchy just because they might not fit you. Think of it like buying a car. Nobody buys a hummer for there first car, so cheap skates for your first skates are okay. Once you get more experienced and more advanced you should get more expensie skates.Your going to need gloves or your hands will freeze. Long socks that cover your ankles so your skates don't irritate your feet. A light jacket or sweater without a hood will be great. And some skating pants of course :) (like long leggings.) I hope I helped, good luck!
