  • Answer:

kind of. reason being is that your not use to the toe pick or edges. hockey blades are tnin and like a knife blade, but figure skates are thicker, has a broader blade surface, important edges, pivots and the troublesome toe pick.

Like you, I have only used hockey skates. A few weeks ago, I went skating on a vacation and was forced to skate with toepicks and it was the the most embarrasing hour of my life. I'm used to doing toe drags and heel turns on hockey skates. They were not happening on figure skates. I tripped on the picks at least 4 times. Figure skaters rely more on outside edges, while hockey players are more on the inside edge, so the blades are going be designed differently. The transition will be painful and embarrasing, but if you put in the time and dedication, you'll be fine. best of luck to you. Personally, I'm going to stick with hockey skates.

Hockey and Figure skates have many differences so it will probably just take some getting used to. Figure skates have a longer blade that extends past the end of the boot and a toe pick so you will have to adjust to that. A lot of people trip over their toe picks when first using figure skates so be careful. Also figure skates offer more support in the ankle and fit snugger than hockey skates. It will seem a little harder to bend your ankle and might feel a little funny at first. I think you could make the transition without too many problems. It just might take a little time, but you are already used to the feeling of being on ice and such so the only thing is to take the time to get used to the figure skates. However you may find that you will always feel more comfortable in hockey skates since that's what you are used to. Personally I've used figure skates all my life and I tried out hockey skates a few time, and while I could skate in them I still preferred my figure skates.
