Help with the Double loop in figure skating?

Can anyone help me with my loop? Help PLEASE! figure skating?

  • I have been working on my loop for almost 3 months maybe and I just can't get it! I was wondering if this is normal or if I should consider like working on it or something.

  • Answer:

Everyone learns at their own speed. The more you practice, the quicker you master new skills. I wonder if you're not holding the shoulders in a checked position with the free leg in front when you jump? If you open up your free knee or relax your shoulders, that'll stop the in-air spin. Practice doing lots of backspins to get into a tight checked position, then open up and JUMP! That will help you get used to the correct position. Good luck!

When I first started learning my loop I was having serious problems with it. I learned it using the wall for about two weeks. Then I moved off the wall and tried. And I was able to do it. For me if I think to much about what to do when I'm jumping I mess up. I just try to relax and jump that normally works for me. Hope this helps!!! :)

Don't worry!! Some people just aren't good at edge jumps (like myself!!). 1. Keep yourself open!! Don't pull in too tightly and stay loose. 2. Keep it simple. Bend the knee, jump, rotate, land. 3. Try different entrances (i.e. crossovers, three-turn, standstill, mohawk) Good luck :)

i had horrible problems with my loop and flip, it took me almost five months to land both of them. can you land a flip? because the jump part is almost the same and that helps. if you get frustrated, just repeat over and over in youre head, im going to land it. that helped me a lot. and most importantly, dont give up, you have to believe in yourself and convince yourself that you are going to land it. hope i helped!

Don't worry! Don't rush your self, it's not a problem at all it's just the timing of how your body works. Like me i've been working on my double salcow for a long time. I land it then a few months later i loose it then over and over again! try skating with lots of power from backwards crossovers on a circle (it really helps give you edge!!) check your arms, make sure it is about parrallel to the cirlce. And of course your head should always be up. Push off your outside edge, pull in your arms, then jump! Land with your arms in a 45 degrees position and slightly bend your landing leg. Make sure your landing leg is straight and your foot is turned out! GOOD LUCK!! and remember Never give up!
