Double blade ice skates verse single which is best to start with ?

normal. she will get used to the double and it is very hard to switch to regular if you have used double.

Double blades are suposed to help with keeping balance in the begginning stages of learning to skate. It's probably best to keep her off them because when one falls, especially when little, it won't kill them and it usually doesn't hurt that much. Plus, falling is part of the learning process! Double baldes will be hard to get off of after skating for a while and getting used to them. Buying regular blades to attach to her skates can be expensive. It's best to start with normal ice skates because she will learn the most important part of ice skating: balance. When you use double blades she will have to learn to balance on regular skates, and it will slow her progress. Double blades are known to slide all around on the ice, and it doesn't exactly teach her to balance, it just makes a "comfort factor," and all it does is make her feel more afraid. Double blades do not enable you to actually figure skates, and your main goal is to help your daughter learn, not feel comfortable. Ice rinks don't take double blade skates most of the time because it doesn't promote learning to skate. And you have to admit, don't they look a little strange? She could be teased by other children at the rink in her group lesson. Good luck!

I would suggest beginning with the single blade skates. From what I've seen the double blade skates just tend to slide all around the ice, and then when they do go to regular skates they have a really hard time.

single blade. if she is planning on continueing to higher levels. it really isnt that hard to babland on a single blade, i see little kids skating alla time

Double Blades help with the balence but if she is taking the lessons she might want to get single blades only because she will want to keep going.
