Do you mean that you can't center your spins . . . or do you mean the spins are not really spinning . . . or both? I think it will just take time to re-adjust again . . . especially if you've been off the ice a long while. I don't know how old you are, but if you grew since the time you quit, that would make a difference too. In my experience and also my friends, when you're off the ice for some time, the spins are the first to go (as you know, you can't fudge spins). What I find is the most common thing that doesn't make a spin go well is the position of the free hip. That throws everything off. As soon as the entrance is made, it seems like when they put the free leg into position, that hip is up - when it should be LEVEL. You travel like crazy and the spin doesn't get anywhere. As silly as it sounds, re-learn that one foot spin (with that free foot by your knee - not scratch spin) til you find your "balance" again. When you're moving on the ice, it's hard to feel what you're doing wrong. I've often looked at myself in front of a mirror while trying to recreate what I do on the ice. I've often caught my mistakes and tried to get the correct feeling off ice . . . and then took it to the ice (it helped me to do that anyway). Best of luck and welcome back to the ice!

Try to keep your weight centered, and try to spot so that you don't start to get dizzy which makes keeping your weight balanced harder.

Hi there. Here are my thoughts: Make sure you spin on the sweet spot ( the area about an inch and a half or so behind the toe pick). Make sure that you look slightly into the direction of rotation that you are spinning. This will help with your body placement. Practice holding each spin position off the ice, wearing two inch heels. (This simulates the feel of having skates on). Relax your shoulders because tightening them up can throw you off. (Sometimes it helps to slightly press your shoulders down a little, especially when doing a scratch or back spin or even camel spin.) Let me know how this goes Miche

Keep most of your weight on the ball of your foot and always pull in your arms, like so, hug a (INVISIBLE AND FAKE) balloon and "pop it".

5 lbs ankle weights. Or try 2 &1/2 if 5 is toomuch
