How do you make a ski rail out of pvc pipes?

  • I want to make a ski rail in my backyard for winter using pvc pipes, what I really want to know is how to get the pipes to stay on, like what to use to do it.

    Screws work good. Drill a small hole on the mating surface of the pvc, drill larger holes on the side of the pipe large enough to allow a screwdriver to fit through the hole and then screw it in to the rail surface. Do not drill any holes in the top surface. You might try a PVC pipe that comes in coils for a longer rail. If you are skilled with tools, the pipe can be cut in a straight cut and the put over a wood rail and screwed through the side. Neither method is easy.

super easy to do...get two PVC pipes and a 2by4 mount them by screwing up through the board and into the pipes, use liquid nail caulk to fasten the pipes together. screw some short 2by4 perpendicular to the long one for support and then your good to go.
