Answer:
A good range would be between your shoulders and nose. Shorter skis are easier to maneuver but less stable while longer skis are more stable but require more strength to control. If you want them to last a few years go with the longer skis and stay off of rails. Rails will destroy them. After you get more comfortable skiing, you should be able to determine what length ski you like. Personally I prefer skis taller than I am but at the moment have some that are the same height.
