    i haven't been there in 3 or 4 yrs. so I can't remember exactly... I remember Crans-Montana is east by an hour or two in Switzerland. South a little bit and East, in between Crans and Geneva, is Verbier. A bit further east and south is Graechen and Zermatt. There are many ski areas south/SW/SE of Geneva in France that are well known. Chamonix, Les Arcs-LaPlagne/Ste Foy/LaRosiere, Val d'Isere, Courcheval, Meribel, Paradiski, and Les Trois Valais ('the three valleys' ski areas). Your best bet is to search British websites for info. They are written in English and should contain travelling tips as well. There are at least a few ski travel organizations designed for Americans that you might be able to dig up for info. I would also recommend spending a little time at your bookstore or library and search for the Lonely Planet series and look for France or Switzerland. Geneva is a great place to leap frog from for ski areas in the Alps! I love how easy it is to get around on the developed mass transit there.

There are looads of places. The ones I know are mainly on the french side, but they're all about half an hours drive away. If you are into big resorts, the Portes du Soleil and the Grand Massif are great, but they can get very crowded. there are also a lot of beautiful little stations around the place, which are great to discover and are rarely at all crowded. The one I'm nearest to, and mmost familiar with is called "praz de lys sommand", and is great!
