Would it be better to ski or snowboard?

I am thinking of going to CO this winter to learn to ski or snowboard. Suggestions on a good ski school?

  • Never been skiing or snowboarding before. I really need a good ski resort that has a multi-day school. Also, should I learn to ski or snowboard first? Thanks!

  • Answer:

I live in Utah, so I can't really help you with the where-to-go in CO. There are some very high quality learning programs here, though. Park City Resort has a very well developed and competitive ski school, as does Deer Valley next door, and most resorts have tons of hotels and condos available within walking distance. As for wich to learn first, it mostly depends on your personal preference. I'm one of few who are pretty skilled in both, and I would recommend skiing. I just think it's more fun. Skiing is easier to learn the basics, but getting to be a really able skier takes a lot of practice. Snowboarding, on the other hand, is tough to get started, but after just about a solid week most people are very confident with the more difficult terrain. I would definitely not recommend doing both. It's very hard to develop high amounts of skill, and you'll never really get to the tough stuff.

Well, I know Steamboat is very family oriented, which would lead me to believe that they have good lessons.
