Can I use candle wax as snowboard wax?

Can I use windex before I wax my snowboard?

  • Im getting ready to wax my snowboard and I'm supposed to clean it off.and I was just wondering if I could use windex.and also can I use a household iron for melting the wax?

  • Answer:

You don't need to use any chemical solvents on your base unless it's ridiculously dirty, and even then it's not required. Just get a brass brush and go over the bottom a few times to clean out the pores and whatnot. The more you use chemicals the better the likelihood that you'll mess up your base. I've never once used any sort of base cleaner. All I do is clean the base with a brass brush, and if it's really dirty I do a hot scrape. A hot scrape is where you melt the wax on your board but instead of letting it cool you scrape it off while it's warm. This will pull up all the dirt and crud on your board. You may have to repeat this a few times but it works. You can use a household iron, but just remember that once you use that iron you'll never be able to use it on clothing again. You also need to be careful with the temp settings. If the wax is smoking then the temp is too high.
