Get a gopro! They are durable have lot's of mounts in case you want to take it beyond the helmet. The gopro is extremely durable but a bit hard to use but you can get a hang of it quickly.

well, these criteria cant really be met: inexpensive, tough, good quality... my personal favorite is the contour head cams, even tho gopro is more popular, i find that the iamge quality is better. plus, for the same price you can have a gps on it. or no gps for 100$ less than gopro. contour gps is 299$ contour roam is 199$ contour+ is 499$ gopro 299$ my comparison of the two cams is based on footage ive seen from my friends who had a gopro, and one with a contour. both on the same day on the same hill. (they were arguing about which was best so they decided to test it)
