Summer camp is still good to go to...I go skiing at Mt. Hood a lot...Skiing won't be good as spring obviously, but Palmer Lift at Timberline gets to some good stuff if that's where u r going. Good luck! DOnt 4get the sunscreen!

Spring wax for slushy conditions. It's going to be relatively warm. I have heard the same thing about the summer camps. It is fun, and a good place to really work on tricks and such, but it is kind of over rated. Don't expect it to be sick skiing, just in warmer weather. The coverage will be thin and wet. But it should still be fun.

I have no idea if its overated or not but something is better than nothing and do the wintercamp too! As far as wax goes... call and ask them what they recommend to bring (Note: the camp may supply the wax and the facilities to wax em... I have used lighter fluid to clean the bottomes of my skis in summer time use because the snow can get really dirty and it sticks to the bases. The lighter fluid cleans well (needs it almost every run and man you will have to hot wax the skis a lot because they will dry out big time. If you are going to become a racing fanatic ou have to become a ski waxing junky. Waxing 'geeks' have made it a science > Everything from magnifying the bases, preping the bases, replacing the bases with better sintered bases, beveling the edges, grooving the edges and using wax additives such as cera F $100+ for 2 ounces??? I would be pretty sure that the camp is going to teach you all about it or atleast get you started. Make em earn yer money...call and ask them about it. FIS top racers have different skis with different material bottoms for different conditions. Cold snow has sharp chrystals wet snow and water creates a 'vacuum' on your skis. I could try to explain it all but sure you can find it all on a google search for race preping ski bases. Maybe even the wax manufacturers get into it at their web sites etc... Good luck..... oh and by the way... you cannot be competitive at top level racing without doing it all. Just check out all the tools, brushes, files, waxes etc... it can be overwelming to people who just like to ski... let the shops do it.
