What are ski gloves that keep hands dry but not hot?

My ski gloves are never keeping my hands warm. What should I do?

  • I am looking for a good pair of snowboarding gloves to buy and I am tired of having gloves that don't keep my hands warm. Which brands would probably be could to buy?

  • Answer:

I used to wear gloves that always got cold and wet, so I set out to find out what the problem was. I figured out that I had two problems: - As I was skiing, my hands would get overheated and get sweaty, causing the glove lining to get wet and suck heat out of my hands on the chairlift. - My gloves took forever to dry out. So, to fix this, I went on a totally different approach. First, I got a pair of fleece glove liners that dry out quickly and do not hold moisture. Then I got a pair of vented gore-tex mitts. Now, whenever I feel my hands overheating, I either open the vents or take off the mitts. This keeps my hands dry. Then, on the chairlift up, I just tighten everything up. The mittens keeps my hands way warmer than gloves, since the fingers collectively heat each other. Another advantage of the fleece lining is you can keep them on for delicate tasks that you would usually have to take off the gloves for. This helped me, hope it helps you!

Try water proof gloves. Then a knit pair underneath. Sometimes you dont have enough heat in your body so it makes your hands cold because that is where all your heat excapes from. Try wearing a jacket too or scarf if you dont already wear one. Hand warmers are also really great.

Put on another vest. If you can increase the temperature of your core, your hands and feet will stay warmer. Also, remember to wear a hat as lots of core temp is lost through the top of the head. Once you're bundled properly on your torso and head, find a pair of waterproof gloves. Dry hands stay warmer longer. Good luck, and have a safe season.

Cold hands are usually caused by poor circulation or wet gloves. The wet gloves can be cured with a rubber glove inside your gauntlets, or using goretex. Another choice is a heater pocket in the glove.

First things first... You should go see your doctor. You could have circulatory problems that make your hands cold. Raynaud's Disease could be a problem if you find that your hands and feet are frequently cold. As far as gloves go, I've had great lick with Columbia and North face gear. Don't ever scrimp when it comes to being warm, frostbite sucks!
