Where can I go skiing?

Where can you go skiing in MAY ??

  • We live in the UK, where can you go skiing in MAY ? Skiing/Snowboarding

  • Answer:

If you want to come over to the US, there's Tukerman's in New Hampshire. A day of hiking and back country skiing. It's the Holy Grail for skiing. Sugarloaf in Maine was open until May 1. Check out www.goski.com for a list or worlwide resorts. Also www.alpinezone.com the message board should give you a great answer. The glaciers in Canada offer skiing into the summer (there are camps throughout the summer for the ski pros). A lot of sking at this time of the year is back country. If you can wait until June, may I suggest Chile.

THE BIG E

In Europe, somewhere in Switzerland. In the U.S., I can think of 3 places off the top of my head. 1) Arapahoe Basin, Dillion, Colorado. Stays open until the first weekend in June, right now the snow is powder, 81 trails open, and 57" on the base. They might stay open later because of all the snow they're getting. My uncle is there right now, and he was in a blizzard on my birthday, May 1st, while driving up there. 2) Mammoth Mountain, California It's about 6 or 7 hour drive from my old house in Orange County. They stay open until July 4th. Right now, they have 42" on the base, and 45 trails open. 3) Mount Hood, Oregon never mind, that closes today. sorry.

Well, there is places such as New Zealand or even Japan (indoor), but if you want something less expensive you could think about the north of Scotland. There was lots of snow in the Cairngorms just a few weeks ago, but it can be a bit unreliable. Search on a site such as google, they'll be able to tell you where there is snow at this time of year. Sometimes France has snow at this time of year but sometimes it's all melted by February or March.
