What paint is good for skis?

Can I paint the undersides of my skis?

  • Im considering buying some new Vollkl AC50 skis but I wish to paint the undersides a different color. Is this possible and how?

    DO NOT PAINT THE UNDERSIDES OF YOUR SKIS!!!!! This will pretty much ruin them. the bottoms of skis are engineered to glide on the surface of snow, painting them would mess all that up and make the bottoms rough and uneven ( the opposite of what you want ). There is no right way to paint your skis.

No. This will ruin the quality of your skis as they are specially waxed and laminated for optimal friction reduction. Painting them will ruin them.

NO NO NO NO! you cannot paint them. The base is made differently by all companies and I'm not sure what Volkol's are made from but in any case they are designed so that wax will stick to them properly and allow you to move smoothly over the snow. If you paint it you'll more than likely be stuck at the top of the hill not moving.

I would listen to everyone else on this sight for this one. How ever I will tell you how to do it. First you would have to take off all the base material off the bottom of the ski. Not Easy. You will be left with the Core of the ski exposed. GENTLY sand off the paint off the material. Clean the aria well and paint the desired color. Now the fun part. Using P-tex roles form a ski supply shop you and relay the base. Heat it up and with enough pressure you are done. Again I would not recommend this for any one, yet I have seen worse.

no. but you can get custom bases if you buy certain skis, such as prior.

The bottom of skies are made with a material to glide painting them would prevent them from gliding and you would not go anywhere
