Recommended books about developing Psychic/Mediumship abilities?

Anybody have any suggestions on books or courses about developing psychic/mediumship abilities?

  • I was just wondering if there are any good books or courses that people here might suggest regarding the developing of psychic/mediumship abilities. Spiritualist type stuff. Thanks...

  • Answer:

There are a lot of great books out there on these subjects. To start out, I would recommend the following books: "Entities Among Us" by Catherine Bowman ISBN 1577330838 "Creative Visualization" by Shakti Gawain ISBN 1577310276 "Celestine Prophecy" By James Redfield ISBN 044667100 These are great beginners. Each give really good information. There is also a very interesting website called Spirit online which has some free meditation exercises you could work on as well. I hope that helps. :)

I admire your open minded attitude. Beware of the huge amount of nonsense in this field. There are some good sources of information available from intelligent and sincere people. Keep in mind that Soviet, American and Chinese governments have spent a lot of money and effort on psychic research. I believe there is something to it. Anyway, some of my favorites are "The Quantum Hologram and ESP"(DVD), "Mind Reach"(Book) and "THE PSYCHIC WORD OF PETER HURKOS" (Book). Best of luck with your studies.

there are 2 paths. the one is to open yourself up so that you can see things. and practice stretching your mind to other places. other answers have suggested some good books, but don't forget about the ones on "remote viewing", some are very good. the other way is really not worth it and is a horrible thing. I mention it so that you can stay away from it. it is to bind (partner) yourself to an entity that is on the other side. they can see and do things that you can't, they do this in exchange for feeding off your energy. it is called spiritism by some christian groups. and it is really easy to do, message me if you really want instructions.(of course I will try to talk you out of it again)

It's wonderful that you are feeling guided to develop your gifts. It is important when finding teachers, mentors and books that you follow your guidance. There are many wonderful resources out there, and you will be the best judge of what resonates for you. One of my favorite books is "Opening to Channel" by Sanaya Roman and Duane Packer (ISBN 0915811057). While it isn't specific to mediumship, it does give a wonderful overview of how to connect with your guides. This is a great help when awakening psychic and mediumship abilities. I'm also a big fan of books by Doreen Virtue. In John Holland's book, "Born Knowing" (ISBN 1401900828) he shares about his experiences in opening to his gifts as a medium. He shares about attending Arthur Findley College in the UK and working with a Spiritualist circle. His book might give you some more ideas for resources. I do recommend working with a good mentor and/or teacher. It is helpful to have someone holding the light with you when you are first opening to your gifts. What area are you in? If there are classes nearby you, I'll post those, too. With Blessings of Light to You!

Many people have all sorts of advice, but since no such abilities have ever been demonstrated in a controlled environment then it's not unreasonable to assume such talents do not exist. I'd love it if they did, but all I've seen of mediumship and ESP is a small portion of the population that has surrendered to wishful thinking. If there were a reliable course then the world would be populated with psychics wouldn't it? We'd all be running around reading each other's minds. But, alas, we aren't able to do that. For the most part people who sell books about such things are taking advantage of this willful disregard for reality. They should be ashamed of themselves. Of course I'd love to be proved wrong.

While there are many branches of parapsychology, the two popular schools of thought tend to be: 1. minor unpredictable, semi-repeatable results are possible, such as "hunches", dreams, supressed memory, and so forth. people like Targ and Mitchell http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edgar_Mitchell fit into this box. search for terms like "Noetics". 2. major, highly skilled or miraculus results, such as to be found in Psi-Pog http://www.psipog.net/ or channeling experiments of the "Law of One" Ra group. The practices of Kriya Yoga as outlined in "autobiography of a yogi" also claim astounding results. this latter group of experiments tend to be "all or nothing" - you either believe it/experience it, or you don't - with little to no empirical evidence to support such claims.
