    Well, where are your cramps at? In your legs, when you breath? Need to know where to give you some ideas on what might be causing it. If you want to run a good time int he mile, then try jogging 2-3 miles a day with some light 6-8 x 100-meter speed bursts on every other day at the end. Saturday should be 4-5 miles comfortable. Skip running on Sunday. Hopefully this will help you improve your mile time. As for the day of "the race," just relax go out comfortable and build your speed up until the last lap. Go for it ont he last lap and really let go 200 meters from the finish.

Basically all you can do to get better is to just run, gradually you will get faster. It is mainly mental you just have to push yourself. Just think about catching the next person in front of you or if you are ahead of the rest just think about extending your lead. I am not sure what causes cramps, but I use to get them all the time when I drank too much water. To get rid of them while running take in a deep breath and then hack like a dog choking on a bone, don't hack from the throat hack from the lungs. I know it sounds weird but it works.

I just ran a mile in gym class a few days ago. Remember to breathe correctly that can cause cramps. And dont eat anything with sugar before you run thats what mostly causes cramps. And pace yourself thats the most important thing,

practice at home. thats how i get better at running. also stretch before you run....because if you dont, you get cramps.

to get better at running you would need to practice. Everything comes from practice. Maybe running a little everyday and running more everyday. But before you run, you should stretch that will decrease soreness and cramps. And don't eat one hour before you run or exercise but have something in your stomach. And listen to fast music, that tends to make me go faster. YEP!! JJ
