How To Apply For Mumbai Police?

Why do we keep complaining that Mumbai's security is in jeopardy when a chunk of the police force goes on protection duty for politicians who aren't in power?

  • I have often seen politicians carrying an entire fleet of police vans with them. It always angers me. What angers me more is the fact that the govt gives protection even to those who aren't in power. I could still understand when a state cabinet minister demands protection but the logic of providing an entire fleet of police personnel to those not in power escapes me. Just the other day, apparently a big-shot, saffron, right-wing guy was visiting my college. And for him, the college decides to make exceptions by allowing his protection fleet to park inside the college (on normal days only the faculty is allowed to park). And these bozos decide to take matters in their own hands by moving locked vehicles of the faculty and some students out of their way (of course, without the consent of vehicle owners) to park their own bullet proof Mercs. I was flabbergasted (partly because they moved my 2 wheeler as well). That's when i happened to see the full picture. There were rows of German cars, rows of police vehicles and another 2 rows of police vans. Oh and then there were policemen scattered throughout the college (yes, college students who care 2 bits about this guy are a threat). Then there were metal detectors at the entrance (where students weren't allowed to stand for more than a fleeting instant). Then i get out of the premises to see some more vans scattered outside, some more policemen sipping tea. On i go for about a kilometre and thats when i see the last police van. Phew! All this for ONE man. College transforms to parliament. What a govt, what a country. Is it right in hoping that this will change? Will the system see the citizens before it sees the politicians? Will the politicians let themselves be seen after citizens?

  • Answer:

I think I know who you're talking about here. Same shit happened to me. It's the 'khaki+white kurta'-phobia which people are still suffering from. The pathetic part is that larger audiences are becoming aware and yet nobody wants things to change. It's the same thing when people see a white-coloured car (apart from an ambulance) with a beacon alight on top of it. People simply make way! When they're not in power, they'll use money to throw their weight around! Politicians have officially achieved cult status
