it all varies. first i would make sure i have the right shoes on. good running shoes of course. then you need to make sure you have a good pace and like the others said, kick it up at the end, not the beginning. next make sure you're breathing right, in through nose, out through mouth. i actually ran about a 7:40 in middle school. now i run a 6:30 which isn't good but isn't as slow. Like anything else, JUST RUN. It's always better to run about 1 or 2 miles than you normally run. you should also dedicate certain days to sprinting. oh and if you have problems with side stitches eat bananas

Your actually doing pretty good for a 7th grader with that time. So let me 1st congrat u on that! Congratulations! I used 2 run track in middle school and high school. My coach went All-American three times! The best thing you can do is run! Just run. Run three miles if you competition is only one mile. Once you get the endurance to run that distance than start focusing on picking up your speed. If you can do 3 miles, one mile will be a piece of cake!

Tell me this. When you start are you running as fast as you can? If thats what you're doing, you're getting tired too soon. Pace yourself early, then when you're near the end, turn it on full blast. That's what I did, and went from 8 minutes to 6 minutes.

Well, since you're so young, the best thing you can do right now is to let yourself grow older, and your body will develop more and more as time progresses... Other than that, try to go out and maybe run 2-4 miles each day...nothing extreme, but enough that when you're only running 1 mile, it won't seem as bad Also, doing a little bit of hill running every couple of days will help build leg strength, creating a quicker turnover rate for your legs

Run reguraly, that's what I did and it made a huge impact. In 8th grade my best time was 8 minutes and 13 seconds and now in 9th grade my best mile time so far is 7 minutes and 32 seconds. I ran 3 days a week with my best friend EVERY WEEK.
