pace your self

no, jog in the beginning, keep your breathing steady. breath in through your nose, out through your mouth, and pase your self. don't over do it, and go so fast that your tired in 40 seconds.

girls are by nature slower than boys (on average). if you look at track world records- the women are slower than men. Still you can improve you time naturally by running a few miles each day for a few months. If you want a chemical boost before you run a timed mile, try caffeine, jello, ripped fuel (get that at GNC), etc.

keep a steady jog for the whole time

the key is to stay at a good pace, if you sprint instantly your more likely to lose your breath faster and get a cramp or something like this. I recommend that you try pacing yourself during the mileinstead of "running" it. you should constantly stay at the same pace and see how much better the results are.

don't sprint in the begining because you waste your energy i don't know if there is any trick. it can not be denied that male hormones give them a physical advantage. but i suggest doing exersizes. i heard that kicking your feet in a chair back and forth in a chair that will allow maximum movement will build running muscles. i do not know the credibility of this one but its pretty convenient.

run the straights, speed walk the corners.

It's all about endurance and keeping a good pace. Don't sprint out the gate, just run a comfortable pace for the entire mile. By the way, a six minute mile for a young guy in P.E. is rather fast.

Brian Benton

just pace yourself through out the whole mile and try not to stop running
