How do I get more internet traffic?

I want to do Internet Marketing. I want to use adwords to get traffic to my landing page. My problem is...?

  • that I don't know how to find a niche. PLEASE HELP!

  • Answer:

This would be a three step process. 1. Identify what is a hot topic from searches. Use something like Alexa to find what type of websites are getting the most amount of traffic: http://www.alexa.com 2. Find the keywords associated with the hot topic items: Use Google's Keyword Tool at: https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal or use a service like Keyword Discovery: http://www.keyworddiscovery.com 3. Get setup as an Affiliate for products or services related to the hot topic from companies that provide those services. Once you are past this you can setup landing pages for your keywords and the landing pages have your affiliate links in them so you can make money from anyone that purchases those products or services. You could go as far as placing Google Adsense on your landing pages too. Hope this helps.

Finding a niche is iterative process -- you start with something you know and like and feel capable to do and then search for niches within that domain. Then, you can use tools such as [1] wordtracker or [2] google's traffic estimator to get general idea on what is the demand and competition for your chosen keywords.

Before spending money on AdWords, try some viral marketing. Become a Yahoo expert. Syndicate articles through goarticles.com, list your site with directories like the Open Directory project (dmoz.org) which is used as Google's default directory. Post blogs on other sites. Embed links in your posts so readers can find your site quickly. Swap links with other sites in your area of sales. Check to see who's linked in to your competition through Alexa.com. Drop them a line to see if they'd exchange links. Keep refining your keyword list. Broadcast RSS feeds. Create podcasts and webcasts for use on your site. Go to freesticky.com for lots of free stuff that'll keep visitors returning. (Love those return visitors!) Start your own blog and start building a site community by exchanging opinions, tactics, etc. with your blog posters. Track your site's monthly metrics to see what's working and what isn't. Add title tags to each page of your site. This creates numerous entry points to your site, not just through the home page. Keep keyword density to 3%. After you've done a few of these things, then consider AdWords once the site is paying for itself. Good luck, Paul Lalley [email protected]
