This might sound odd, but I think if you made friends or joined clubs those friends or clubmembers would be more inclined to visit your site. Just like networking face to face in person, it will only work if you aggressively meet new people and get them involved in your interests or if you get involved in theirs.In effect you must advertise yourself. For example if you wanted people intersted in Sci Fi to visit your website, you could join a Sci Fi club and interact with the members on forums or message boards. Making contact and interacting with the audience you are targeting would lend itself to having them aware of your website.Even if you don't like Sci Fi. The only way to make sure the 1 in 1000 people you come across that will actually visit your site actually visit is to interact with 1000 people.
