What is e marketing?

Before everyone was tagging things with "i" they started tagging them with "e" (ecommerce, ebusiness, etc.) to denote the "electronic" version of whatever they were talking about. Emarketing typically refers to internet marketing which can include a large variety of services including website design and development, search engine optimization, pay-per-click search marketing, email marketing and other online advertising. Emarketing. You have a product, or a service that you offer. If you don't have your own product, or service....you promote someone else's, that's called affiliating. Now, take the "e" off the front to avoid confusion. Now, it's simply marketing. Put the "e" back on the front and it's simply "marketing on the internet"...which, in a nutshell means telling people about whatever it is you have to offer...advertising. How do you advertise? Pay per click...little ads you place on google, that appear on the right side of the page. You pay everytime someone clicks on your ad that takes them to the page you're advertising. It costs money, and there are tricks to it, but it's INSTANT traffic. Your ad is up in front of the world in minutes. SEO- (Search engine optimization). When you type in a word at Google, or Yahoo, and a list of webpages comes up. The pages on the first few pages have been optimized to come up on the first few pages. There are many ways to optimize your page...heck, here's the link to google and they explain what you need if you have a website and you want to optimize it. SEO is the best, because it's all free! BUT, it takes time, weeks, sometimes even months to get listed higher up, especially if your website is in a highly competitive niche. http://www.google.com/technology/index.html E-mail marketing. Spam is sending out e-mails to people who never asked for you information. Don't do it! You need to search for "opt-in" and "double opt-in" email leads. Those are people who have signed up for offers and agreed to receive e-mails. You can send them all sorts of offers. Forums: A place where people hang out and chat about different things. At Google, type in what you're looking for in quotes, + the word forum. Example ("fishing tips" forum). That will help you find forums in your particulare niche. In your e-mail, AND at the forums put in a signature file. It would look something like this.... Scott Lindner --------------------------------------... How I made $30,456 on the internet, for free! www.whateverwebsite you're promoting.com --------------------------------------... The above is not a website! It's just an example. You NEED exposure. It takes work. Go get a blog and start writing about it. Blogs are free and over time, if you write good stuff, people will come. There are so many, methods, tips, tricks...you're going to have to do your research, which takes time and is NOT fun. But, if you're going to something anyway, you owe it to yourself to do it the right way. If you don't, you've wasted your time and you're headed down a road of frustration.
