My wife has a degree in marketing but is struggling to find a job.can anyone advise?

Where has she looked? Monster.com simplyhired.com craigslist.com Hotjobs.com Local/national marketing associations And how has she looked? I'd suggest she look at the companies she'd like to work for whether it's an industry she enjoys or the company is near her or if it has a rep for being a great employer. Then I'd rec that she do some research on them and write to them suggesting how a person with her skills could benefit the company (no matter whether have posted employment ads). They'll appreciate someone who's taken the time to learn about them and sought them out, letting them know how a mktg expert would help them. Good luck!

Maybe consider temping (good agency can really help), get some industry exposure and experience - many companies employ temps and then take them on later as f/t help.

Sometimes the answer lies somewhere else. We are so trained to think linear. Marketing degree = Marketing job. Maybe that is just a stepping stone. Think of your qualities. What is her qualities ? Her other talents ? Her other gifts and personalities ? Think big, zoom out. See the big picture as God intended you to be. You wife and I can probably have alot to talk about...I also have a marketing degree and am really struggling. Finding a marketing job is the same as finding any other job - lots of work and not easy.

I am not in this business, but I can't imagine a better paying job than being a Yellow Page sales rep. These a$$holes pull up every year to my business in brand new Mercedes and BMW's quoting me my left leg and right arm for an ad the size of your palm. Oh, they have the personality and sales skills of a gnat! They admit the product is in "such demand" they don't "really have to sell anything".

Ok, this is painful I realize... but she has a MARKETING degree... tell her to sell herself using her knowlege: - identify key advantages - build a USP - identify a target market - contact the target market with a compelling value statement and offer etc....
