What are some good ways to make old people in India catch up with time?

• I am an engineering graduate from a prestigious college in India. Whenever I go home, I just feel they are refusing to change themselves with time. They want everything to happen exactly the way it used to happen in earlier times. For example : 1. They want me to get engaged to a girl from the same caste so that I may not look for another girl. 2. They talk about corruption and ultimately they are the ones who are corrupt. They want to use false means to get train ticket, do not purchase platform ticket, bribe in offices, traffic policemen etc. 3. Always try to prove they are the smartest. I just don't get it why they want to prove himself/herself all the time. I am acknowledging the fact that they are older and they deserve respect I give them. I listen to them and show respect. But still they remain adamant about certain points. And you can't say any word against them as it causes annoyance to them. It becomes very irritating. 4. They still like watching melodramatic serials like Balika Vadhu and all other family drama. Even if I tell them about shows like Game of Thrones or Friends, they show no interest and say "badi english aa gayi h tujhe, yahan mat jhaad english", (You know a lot of English now, don't show off). Although all of them know english, they just don't want to watch english dramas. 5. I like this concept I got from Bengaluru, where all members of the family help in washing dishes and cooking etc, but in my home even after my initiation, no one wants to help mom. I told them why only she has to do all of it, we should help but my father discarded the idea. There are many more. All the Indian boys know what I am talking about. Feel free to edit the description and add more points. The question is what should I do to change them and set them on right path?

  Suggest you move far away from them and get on with your life (live the way you want to) or you'll end up wasting your life trying to prove them wrong. Option #2 is to be the change and show by example which is a long and slow process that requires more supporting actors.
