How do I use Microsoft Word to open a Google Doc?

How to use microsoft word or how to use the native application to open Google Drive document it? I tried a little method but not work: 1,Google Cloud Connect site cann't open. 2.OffiSync also no longer provide support. 3.GreaseMonkey script "Google Drive Desktop Integration" also does not work. Then I do not not want to use oneDrive ---too slow! !

Do you have Google Drive installed? I have Google Drive, Dropbox, and SkyDrive installed and just opened files from each using Word's File>Open menu. I browsed into all the cloud servers (including Google Drive) and opened files locally in Word. In the File/Open dialog of Word, you might want to change the "file type" to "all files" if you're trying to open a filetype besides DOC, I suppose. I opened an INI file, an ODT file, and a TXT file.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for but you can download a Google Drive Document from their Web UI and when you download it, there is an option to download it in MS-Word format. Similarly, you can download Google Sheets in Excel format and Drawings in PPT format.
