UEFA Cup vs. UEFA Champions League?

  • I am new to football. What is the difference between the UEFA Cup , UEFA Champions League, and the UEFA Super Cup? Its an easy best answer.

    Both are club competitions for teams playing in Europe. The Champions league used to be for that, Champions only. But it was expanded to include up to the top 4 clubs of some leagues, like England, Italy, Spain... It has clubs from all over Europe and any team can qualify if they finish high enough in their league and then qualify against other teams. It has since the early 90's become the greatest European competition for clubs. The Uefa cup is open to the "lesser" club teams if you will. Basically if a team finishes 5th or 6th in England, for example they go to the Uefa cup which is a larger tournament than the Champions league. The Supercup is the winner of the uefa cup and the Champions league. This year it was AC Milan who won the Champions league versus Sevilla who won the Uefa cup.

all of them are european cups for UEFA CL is for european teams from 1st to 4th place in their league UEFA cup for 5th to 7th or 8th( not sure) place UEFA SC is the 2 champions play againt each other!

In the Uefa Champions league, only the elite teams from each league is selected, for e.g. the top four teams in the whole league. The winner of the Champions league is then able to compete in the fifa world club championship, where the winner of the other continents champions leagues compete and the winner is crowned the best club in the world. The Uefa cup is for teams that finish just under the top 3 or 4. In this case, around 5-8. The teams that are entered in the Champions league qualifiers, but do not qualify get to compete in the Uefa cup. Both of these competitions are for the clubs in Europe. Other continents have there own champions leagues. The super cup is a competition between the Uefa cup winners, and the Champions league winners

Champions league is more prestigiious where the top teams in the best leagues ( Serie A etc..) are grouped together in a tournament along with some kind of wild card teams the qualify by being the best in their league which might not be so good. These " wild card" teams play in 3 qualifying rounds to get into the group play of the tourney. The UEFA Cup is with the lower level teams in those leagues previously mentioned. The UEFA Super Cup is only one game with the winner of the champions league against the winner of the uefa cup
