You don't have to follow any culture or any specific religion to celebrate the festival you want to enjoy,if you like a festival then you've every right to celebrate it. Because, religions and festivals were all created by human beings, just because while inventing them they were in a specific place doesn't mean others shouldn't celebrate.

Don't worry; the influence of TV is too much to resist! In a few years' time, you will find Kerala too celebrating all festivals. The following are already being celebrated/observed due to influence of TV: Raksha Bandhan Ganpati (10 long day festival at the end of which the idol is immersed) Sindoor in the hair-parting Krishnashtami (though no human pyramids yet like in Mumbai)

Kerala is the most backward state in spirituality. Even the highly celebrated onam is for Mahabali and not for Bhagawan Trivikrama. They are not loyal to our hindu traditions. It reflects in their muslim and Christian conversions. They have drinking habit in the homes with family especially Christians. muslim and Christian population constitute two thirds. Consuming beef is common and found in normal restaurants. Veg restuarants are far and few. Drinking and lazing around is common nature among the majority. No hindu festival is celebrated. Malayalis are spread out in many parts of Tamil nadu. They are not in high positions but running tea stalls in every nook and corner. Literate state means they are only school level not highly educated. They are fanatic about their language and state. They are not in the main stream India. It is narrow mindedness only.

As cigarettes are only allowed to smoke in private places so shold be the festivals. cause the noise pollution and wastage of resources should be stopped especially for ill health and old age people which amounts a reasonable % of population.
