Answer:
Copyright law is already in place for what you put on the web. The trouble lies in enforcing it. One thing you might do is what writers do with their for-print work... when you put a major new writing on your website, print it out and mail a certified, registered copy to yourself. That way, if it's ever an issue, you have physical, sealed proof that you had it first. Another thing... just for the sake of completeness, put a copyright notice in the footer of all your web pages (if you're using a content management system, you can set that up once and it will automatically display on all pages).

You have to create or have somebody create all your content for you, or you can get it from a free article content provider for instance, but the articles usually have links in them that you cant delete or it will be copyright infringment. Be sure to report all you earning's and keep in mind if your sale goes out of state you dont have to pay state taxes. Also I would buy your domain from http://www.ICANN-Domains.com They offer free hosting and a free 5 page website with a domain purchase. Plus there .com's are only $6.95 whereas right now godaddy's are $9.99 for .com's

Everything on the internet is protected under copyright laws. It may not be Registered with the copyright office but it is still protected. To be legal, if your domain name is available no one else has rights to it. Only put information on your site that you wrote or paid someone to write or you have expressed permission to use. Make sure that your site has well written "terms of use and service" and "privacy policy" information. Claim all income you make from your site and Uncle Sam will leave you alone.
