Do u have a target customer? Who are the people who would be most interested in ur products? I imagine u face a considerable amount of competition. But with the right advertisement techniques, being on top of the "game" should be relatively easy. In ur position, I think I would try and make a simple, yet highly atractive advertisement for ur business, and place it in the local newspaper, in church halls, grocery stores, supermarkets, telephone directories, etc. It has to be eye catching and of the right size. But becuase u have just started and new to the business, I think you should be careful not to overspend ur budget on this, but that is ur decision. I like the idea of "hand made" stuff, as suppose to the en masse manufactured products, because hand made products are generally of better quality than their manufactured counterparts. So I would highlight on the fact that your carpets are hand made. Interesting thought: some people walk into a carpet store, they have a rough idea of what they want, but most of times they don't get that, and they end up buying something that is maybe 60-99% of their ideal. Since ur carpets are hand made, ur customers can give u an idea of what they want, and you can work with the idea (designs, use, thickness etc.), and hand make it for them. Try doing deals with carpet stores, they might want to buy ur carpets, and u might end up having a steady customer. Most importantly, do u have a business card? That is so important, never underestimate the power of one simple card. Anyway, ur decisions, ur rules. Up to u whether u would take the advise from someone who substitutes you for u, and your fro ur. Lol. Wish u all the best!
