Can someone rip you off on ebay?

  • Answer:

Well, some kind of scam has happened to a lot of people but personally, I find it quite safe as I stick to safer methods of payments like paypal or escrow. And there are a lot of great sellers there, even retailers that sell online, sometimes list through ebay or amazon. Basic rules of ebay-ing: - read all terms and conditions - read seller's listing carefully - read seller's feedback carefully - note seller's location - choose safe methods of payments, a lot of people use paypal as it acts as a buffer in case of issues, your cash is returned back to you. Good luck.

I don't think that there are any places you cant get ripped off

ebay offers buyer proction for most items up for auction. but sign up with paypal and protect your identity and from scams. if their would be a scam going than ebays buyer protection would refund your money. iv been ripped off once and got all my money after they did an investigation that took a week.

My stupid brother did this once - with about $400 and an xBox 360. He never got it back, nor the xBox. The answer; yes. You can file a claim with eBay if this happens and at least get SOME of the money back, depending on how it all happens, but the best way is to send several messages to the seller if it's taking longer to ship than usual (give it a week, then send messages) and if he doesn't respond file a report to eBay. My mom usually looks at the feedback, if it's an eBay Store then she looks up the store name in Google to find reviews on the store, etc. =3 Just generally be extremely careful and look at eeeverything - and watch for "no refunds". That's usually absolutely a scam. Or the locations set to some place like "Location: Your dreams!" or "Location: Wherever you want :)" or some non-legitimate location.

Yes scams happen all the time and the scammers love to target new buyers There are a few things you can do to be safe -- only buy from sellers in your country. Until you know what you are doing and how to spot the scams, do not deal with overseas sellers. -- be very careful with phones - if the seller has a lot they are probably Chinese fakes that will stop working after a few weeks. If they only have 1, check what other items they have sold. Unfortunately Ebay is used to sell off stolen phones which you will not be able to unlock as it's been reported as stolen -- read the description VERY carefully. Is it new or used, how old is it, what does it come with. Make sure the buyer doesn't say "No Refunds" - if they do you can't get your money back even if the phone doesn't work -- Always bid through Ebay and pay with your registered Paypal account. Scammers will try to get you to do an offsite transaction asking you to send them your Paypal account info or asking you to pay through Western Union or Moneygram. If anyone asks you to do an offsite transaction, do NOT buy from them and report them to Ebay. They are scammers and know that if you do an offsite transaction you have NO way to ever get your money back and Ebay will close YOUR account for breaching the terms of use If you follow these rules and either do not get what you asked for or don't get anything you can open a dispute an get a refun
