  • Barack speaks out on racism in America. After listening to his speech on 2/18/08, do you think his view of America is accurate? Or do you think his statements are racist? ...show more

  • Answer:

I was taken back by what he said about his grandmother. If anything, you leave your grandma out of it. Seems like he was treating his pastor better than her. edit: From: hpotter4ever2000 Subject: Your comment to What do you think about Barack Obama's speech on racism in America? Message: So, are you saying that he should totally denounce his reverend for saying remarks against white people, but should not questions his own grandmother's remarks on black people? If your point is not to bring in family, I think he made that point by mentioning his grandmother. Despite her racist views, he loves her none the less, despite his reverend's views (who admits is like family) his loves hims none the less. I'm sure you love people in your life who express views you do not approve of. But the fact remains is that race is an issue that effects everyone, even him and his grandmother. Maybe it shouldn’t, but it does. And simply not talking about it is not going to make the situation any better. Listen to his whole message, not just the part that you don't approve of before you make a judgment. I'm simply stating what I thought of his speech. His statement about her shocked me.

The only part of the speech that bothered me was when he threw his Grandmother under the bus, like that was supposed to make everything even, damn that man can give a speech, just glad i didnt drink the Obama kool aid

His speech was intellectually dishonest. I support him even less after that speech.... no respect for him at all.

Obama is contributing to racism in the United States of Great America. Tell me who you hang out with and I will tell you who you are :) Latinos for McCain 08 ps who would bring up that his granmother was white and his granma was affraid of the demographics she grew up

A lame and misguided attempt at damage control -- that's all it was. They say that you're known by the company you keep. With regard to Obama and Wright, that saying is all too true. .

it was an insult to american people

I see Obama has painted himself into a corner. If he did sit and listen to that spiritual leader, and did not stand up against him if he did not agree with him then he is not a strong man. If he didn't say anything because he agrees with the spiritual adviser; he is a racist. If he didn't say anything because he didn't make the connection or didn't hear he is an idiot. There just are not any winning choices for him.

I think his speech of 3/18/08 was a big banana leaf to cover his ***. It sold well in the liberal and minority communities, but not in the white conservative neighborhoods. Nothing changed by him turning the black racist diatribes of his pastor into long dead white racism against blacks. Same crap, different day.

I think his statements are racist, and if he was a white candidate he would already be writing his concession speech.

It sounded like the way Barry Bonds would sound if he came out and spoke against the evils of steroid use.
