How do I send existing e-mail and omit original recipient?

Email Marketing: do you know any rule-based email marketing service?

  • We're looking for a rule-based email marketing system.  E.g that would trigger email newsletters to customers at pre-defined events, e.g. "first purchase", "purchase over $50" ; send life-cycle newsletters (e.g. a series of 5 on-boarding welcome emails); and coordinate broadcast newsletters (e.g. on Christmas). It doesn't have to replace our existing email sending system (e.g. SendGrid, CampaignMonitor, MailChimp or Sendy) - just manage the "which emails to send, and to whom".  The closest I could find is "sign-up . to" but they only offer 4 hard coded events (birthday, open newsletter, click newsletter), so it's not customisable enough. The ideal system would: - get users data (bigtable, via CSV / MySql connection) - enable us to set custom-made rules according to data - use existing newsletters templates (e.g. created by HTML with a different app) - manage which customers got which newsletters - connect to existing email -sending systems (e.g. CampaignMonitor or MailChimp) to actually send the email If you're unfamiliar with such a system, but would consider supporting a KickStarter project, please comment below.  Thanks.

I don't know of any tool that is designed to do just that and that alone. There are email marketing solutions that are targeting enterprise level businesses and offer this kind of solutions. I've been using Silverpop for a while now and they offer these kind of rulesets and trigger based emails. This obviously requires some kind of automatic integration between your database and Silverpop's database but this is not very hard to accomplish. In Silverpop you can basically do everything you mentioned in your post above and more.

I recommend taking a look at http://www.windsorcircle.com/. They integrate with a number of email marketing service providers and ecommerce platforms to provide advanced segmentation to do exactly what you are asking for. may be able to add some additional insight.

You can do this via mailchimp. Did you look into using Mandrill which is their more complicated segmentation desktop application?  You just need your ecom software to push to the database mailchimp has. See if you can leverage http://www.zapier.com at all. I use it for a bunch of stuff

With our MailUp you can: 1) customize the anagraphic fields (up to 40) and lists/groups (unlimited). 2) get users by manual import (csv, excel..) or batch FTP import or web service (Soap/Rest/Http) and divide them by indipendent lists or groups within a list. 3) set custom rules. Not visual drag&drop editor, but easily configurable with powerful interface combining AND/OR logic on several parameters including recipients behaviour (what opened, what clicked, when), recipient data, device used, geolocation by ip address. We call them "filters". 4) create custom messages with custom and dynamic content (also based on rules!). You can upload your own html. 5) send messages (we can connect to external system by SMTP relay, but at the end you will pay two times for the same service). The main limitation actully is that the sending engine runs only once a day. This means that you can not manage real time triggers. We are working on that to make it more flexible. 6) collect and store statistics at user level for months/years or retrieve  data by web services/batch ftp including bounces, fbls, unsubscribers. We also support web hooks for instant data notification (but http) to external systems. In some cases (big data, high message customization, timely emailings, millions of records per hour) we adopted custom solutions like receiving a XML file, composing the message using templates and send them. Rules in this case are embedded and not easily editable.

Hey there. We've just built quite a sophisticated segmentation tool that does all of the above, into dotMailer, with a really smooth drag-and-drop interface launching very soon. It's literally hot off the press, but we're really excited about it - we've taken a lot of care in getting it just right. We've got some big-name clients using it already :-) If you'd like a chat with one of our consultants, just email me via , and let me know where you are - we have offices in the US, Australia and around the UK. You can check out our site, too: http://dotMailer.com All the best! Luella

Note: I work at , an all-in-one email solution growth hacking marketers. Our platform includes Workflows, a drag-and-drop tool for creating rule-based drip campaigns. Workflows can be triggered by user signups, purchases, reviews or any other custom event that you send to us. You can then apply filters  such as "purchase over $50" and A/B/C splits to see which email series works best in getting users to complete a desired action. It's user friendly and designed for marketers to be able to quickly create complex lifecycle email campaigns without engineer help.

I can highly recommend . It's slogan is "Lightweight Marketing Automation that doesn't suck" and it really delivers. It's like Infusionsoft's smaller brother and you can do really cool things like: build drip email marketing campaigns tag subscribers "Send an email to users 54 minutes after cancellation" "When a user on list A clicks on this link in this email subscribe him to list/campaign B" they do have an API, so you can go totally overboard (I've done this here: https://www.linksspy.com/competitive-link-analysis) I'm really happy to cut them a considerable check each month, simply because they save me so much time.

Check out https://commandiq.com/, which providers a layer of intelligence and orchestration on top of your existing email (and push) providers like SendGrid to determine which messages to send and to whom.  It makes all your data actionable and measurable in one place, no matter where in your ecosystem it’s from (raw data upload via API or CSV files).   Through the web portal, you manage custom segmentation rules, HTML message templates, scheduling and frequency capping logic. Every time the campaign runs, recipients and message personalization are updated dynamically based on the most current data. It’s flexible enough that you can refine your rules from the web portal and have the modifications reflected immediately (e.g., change “purchase greater than $50” to “purchase greater than $75”).   If you’re interested, additional detail about the data system here:http://blog.commandiq.com/2014/05/where-others-fall-short-under-the-hood-of-commandiqs-data-system/.

If you are also looking for a solution that supports messaging types other than email, at Autosend (http://autosend.io) we also provide trigger based messaging for SMS, push notifications and of course email. We also took a different approach to the rule creation system by instead going with a natural language form vs the typical series of drop down form options, so it's designed to be easy enough for someone new to email marketing and powerful enough for a guru.
