Can I live in Batam and work in Singapore?

Is Batam a good place to live and work?

I am from the USA and want to teach English in Batam. Could someone give me some insight on this island? How big is it, is it safe, etc.

its safe but still i would recommend you to find another city : jakarta or bandung or denpasar. i believe there many cities in indonesia that would accept you to teach english there.

Its not a good place to live, very corrupt and dangerous. My uncle went there to teach english too and his wife and 2 kids were kidnapped and missing for 3 months, luckly he got them back. they now live in the us. very beautiful contry.
