102.3 in AP World History Class but going to fail AP test?

So, the AP test is coming up soon. In my very challenging AP class, I have a 93 (which is weighted so you multiply it by 1.1). My teacher is very strict and I would say I'm doing ...show more

Answer:
=P I felt the same way about AP Stats: I have a 109 in the class, but the exam was absolute torture! Your grade (the 93 weighted) will show up on your transcript (of course), but according to my guidance counselor, you can opt out of having your AP grade written on your transcript. But a friend who was a senior said that even if you get a two or a one, it's still good to put it on there, because it shows that you at least tried to take the AP exam. If you do poorly on the AP exam, it's not the end of the world. You just won't receive college credit for that class. The grade you make in the class is probably going to mean more to the colleges, because that reflects the work you have been putting into the class the entire year.

TAKE THE TEST. It is better than not taking it, which colleges see as giving up. They will think that you are not dedicated so take the test and they will see the 93, so that helps

Colleges will probably look at both your average grade in the class and at your AP test score. But they also know that AP classes are harder and they'll understand. They won't reject you right away if you get a bad grade on your test. Don't worry too much. Just do your best.

This is very strange. How did you past tests throughout the year if you didn't memorize anything? Or do you mean you need a refresher? I'm sure there is a AP World History site with some quizzes on it. If not, go to Sparknotes.com and look up the AP World History test. http://testprep.sparknotes.com/testcenter/ap/worldhistory/ Signing up is free http://www.sparknotes.com/history/ Also, if you somehow didn't know this, the AP exam is not a requisite for the course.... Yeah, they will assume your class was easy. It sounds like it is. No, it won't lessen your chances for getting into college!! It's one course! Seriously, calm down. Your panic is pretty funny though. Ah to be a naive sophomore again. By the way, some of these answers seem a little too unrealistic. Taking the AP test to show you took it is not better than taking it and doing good. It is DEFINITELY better to not take it at all then to take it and get a 2 to "show colleges you tried"...lol. But seriously, one important thing you are unaware of is that you never have to show colleges your exam. They don't care. It is really just about earning entry level college credit You paid 60 bucks for the thing just take it!

be confident that you know whats going on. If you have a 93 you must have some clue to what happened in World History. The AP test, tests you on whether you know the "big picture". The fact that you cant remember specific details isnt all that important. Take the test, you'll never know how well you do unless you take it. A college wont look down on you just because you didnt pass an AP test. Colleges know how rigorous AP courses are. Their supposed to be the equivalent of a freshman's introductory course. No matter how good your grade is, a college will never view an AP class as easy. The fact that you're taking a college course in high school is impressive enough. Good Luck

i would say, don't worry about taking it. i was in the same exact position as you last year.. like i didn't know anything at all. i got really stressed out over it, but i ended up taking it anyway and got a 3 (which basically didn't count for anything). i was really upset over it, but it turns out that since i'm majoring in the sciences, most colleges i applied to didn't even require me to take history anyway.. so i basically wasted an 80-dollar test fee on nothing. so in my opinion, there's absolutely nothing wrong with not taking the test. you have a 93 in the class.. that's really good for an AP and honestly, colleges won't care. especially because you're not majoring in history, it seriously doesn't even matter. trust me, from my experience, i've learned it's not worth it
