Can I get into Ivy League colleges?

Is this a good SAT and ACT score. Can i get into Ivy League colleges with scores like this?

  • These are my real scores, i didnt make them up. SAT Critical Reading: 788 SAT Math: 770 SAT Writing: 788 ACT Composite: 35 ACT English: 35 ACT Math: 25

  • Answer:

They're good scores, but your chances of getting into an ivy with them are still only about 10%. The top schools turn down thousands of valedictorians, perfect SAT scorers, and straight-A students every year. You need top grades and test scores just to have a chance, but no one has a good chance.

the scores are all right. but scores are more a prerequisite for colleges than they are a representation of how likely you are to get in. all those probably meet the minimum standards for most schools (that is, they won't REJECT you based on your scores). But after that scores aren't a huge consideration. it's more important to be well rounded. and languages don't count so much towards that. and i don't know where you go to school that you can get an above 5.0 GPA, but colleges definitely won't see that or judge you on that (because the standard there isn't universal). Really work on your essay, make sure you're involved in your school and community, and don't slack off senior year. Also know this, the college admissions department at Harvard said that last year SEVENTY FIVE (75!) % of the applicants were qualified candidates, with scores just like yours. But they could only accept 8%-after that it's all extra currics, community involvement, volunteering, your essay, and plain luck. And don't listen to the people who are telling you you have a great shot. Because it will make you think you can slack off and honestly you don't have a great shot. nobody does. Also as an add-on, I can't tell by your avatar what race you are but if you're black or hispanic your odds of getting in shoot up exponentially. Still, even then, focus on the whole application-not just the test scores. Best of luck :)

yes take your SAT2's too. are you sure its a 5.3 GPA and not a 4.3?

Very good, but obviously SAT isn't the only factor. Ultimately GPA will be the most important aspect of admissions If you want some in-depth stuff you should set up and account on college confidential.com, it's a big forum on college admissions.

These scores are definitely good enough to get you into an Ivy League school. Congrats! In fact, they are high enough that they should help you get in. Very few people will have greater than 750 on all sections. As long as your grades are solid, you have a really good shot.
