Answer:
i agree with conor. history is a very good subject for law. its quite difficult but very worthwhile. also, the englishes. a language or two may be very useful. im not sure about law, i plan to go into a science related field :) DO NOT TAKE A BTEC!!! no matter what they tell you all the crap about how "its worth 5 qualifications......." its not. universities only count it as one. a friend of a friend took only 4 BTEC subjects and thought she'd be okay. also, some grammar schools, such as mine, refuse to accept BTECs as more that one qualification, although thats rare for a sixth form. try to take real gcses :)

It doesn't really matter what you study at GCSE as long as you do very well (i.e. achieve A*s, As and Bs) in your core subjects (English Lit, English Lang, Maths, Science) and ICT, which will be needed when you enroll at college. History and/or Geography are good options, and perhaps a language to show you can apply yourself to many subject areas. Usually if you get a minimum of 5 grade Cs at GCSE you can get on any A-level course, but make sure to check college prospectuses for specific course requirements. Good luck with your GCSEs and in the future.

Obviously you should do english lang and lit and maths, but thats compulsory anyway. If you like history, you should do that, but it really doesn't matter at all. You don't even have to do a law uni course to become a lawyer - you can do ANY degree you like then a conversion course. So don't stress that you can't do a law GCSE at your school. It really doesn't matter.

to be honest, i remember stressing baout my options, but as long as your get good grades in your core subjects, you can go and study anything really at college. It might help to take like humanities ir something like that, but i wouldn't be that concerned if there is something else that catches your eye that you want to do...you might even change your mind by the time you leave school...but just aim high for english because that is a really important one, and maths...like i said its core subjects that have good grades which really matter, because thats what colleges look for first... hope i helped =]

You need english lang, lit, maths and a humanities. I chose History.

A good grade in English, Maths and a humanities subject (History, RS, Philosophy), preferable grade B or above. EDIT: after GCSEs try to take academic quilifications in academic subjects (i.e. A Levels) as Law is very academic. Like someone said, don't take BTECs or National Diplomas or anything like that, unless you choose to do something vocational.
