  • Answer:

well it somewhat depends on where you want to go for college. most midwest states look at acts while eastern and the rest look at sats. you should ask a guidance councelor or someone who has taken either before for more help.

the ACT had Science on it, so if you don't understand it, you might be better off with the SAT. The SAT is more like how to outfox the test makers, there are ways around answering it well. The act really depends on do you know it or not. I personally prefer the ACT, but talk to the colleges that you are interted in and ask which one they prefer if any.

Double Flip Combonation

Take them both junior year (some colleges want one when you apply, but most will want to see both scores). Spring Junior year is the best time to take them. The SAT is basically just math and english (reading and writing). The ACT is math, english (reading and writing), and science. On the SAT, you can omit answers (leave the answer blank) with no point penalty. On the ACT, you can't do that, but you can guess and wrong answers will not be counted against you. I personally found the SAT easier, but most everybody has 1 that they're better at.

You can take both your junior year. Look at the colleges/universities you want to apply to. In Michigan, they all want the ACT and I'm not going out of state for college, so I'm only taking the ACT's. Alot of national colleges want the SATs so you should go to the college's website and look at their admission requirements.

http://www.kaptest.com/Kaplan/Article/College/SAT/Learn-About-the-SAT/CO_satact.html Here is a helpful site you can take a look at so you can decide which test to take. I took my first SAT my sophmore year. I took it 7 times throughout my high school career. The earlier you take it, the faster you get it over with. You take the test as much as you like until you are satisfied with your score so you should start preparing as soon as you want. Some don't even take it until their senior year but that can be a disadvantage because you limit the times you can take it. The Act requires science but has no penalty for wrong answers. The math is harder for ACT then SAT. The ACT is a few mins shorter then the SAT. You are required to write the an essay for the SAT but is not required for the ACT. Those are some of the difference. The website is above so take a look at it. GOod Luck!

They are both so different. On the SAT, you either got the answer right or you didn't. On the ACT, there are some levels of variation in the grading. That's why they say on the ACT never leave a question blank because you will not be penalized for guessing. The SAT does, however, penalize for a wrong answer. So, because most schools on the coast require the SAT, find out which schools you want to apply to and what they require. Most schools that typically require the SAT will accept ACT scores and allow you to take the SAT before you enter. If you're going to be a junior, take the ACT and take the PSAT which is the pre SAT and it will really, really help you learn how to take the SAT if you ever have to!

ACT is much easier. And you can take them more then once... I took the SAT twice. and the ACT once. So I'd take both of them your junior year. whatever one you find easier take it (in senior year)again, because most schools accept both.

OhBoy

You take ACT Junior Year. SAT later.
