Answer:
Graduating from homeschool is NOT going to negatively impact your life. Colleges will accept your homeschool transcript. I believe if you went to high school you would have to repeat your freshman year so you would be behind a grade. I think you should stick with homeschooling. The high school years are not the best years of your life. I think high school is a waste of time. Perhaps you should start taking classes at your local community college?

You have a very smart mother. She knows one does not attend school to tally up a 'friends score'. The reason for education is so that when you are an adult you will be able to put food on your table and a roof over your head. She does not want to worry that her 30 year old daughter just lost another job in the Fast Food Industry and is hanging out with her friends from high school who also cannot find work because they were so busy practicing 'friend' they missed getting the education that would provide for them. She does not want to be working to support you when you are 40. She does not want to worry that you might get sick and that lousy job that's all you could find does not come with health insurance. At 15 its time to assess your chances and opportunities for a future. What are your goals and what are you doing to achieve them? Looking 10 short years ahead to you at 25, where do you want to be in life? Or are you waiting for someone to drill a hole in your head and pour a can of education into it? And the reasons schools have pointless rules is because the majority of the students will end up working pointless jobs with pointless rules in the service sector. Not everyone can be a doctor or lawyer or engineer, only those that see the value of education and it purpose to provide those willing to work for it with a future that does not involve, "You want fries with that?" Because of your attitude and lack of educational understanding I think your mother is right, you need to stick with the homeschooling and work harder than you ever have towards a rewarding future. I wish you well and really don't mean to be hard on you, it's just you seem to need a large dose of reality.

It's awesome that your mom is so involved in getting you the best education you cn be provided with but high school can be some of the best years of your life if you make it that way. I honestly don't know how you can survive without friendship... If you or your mom is worried about friends taking your focus away from education, know that there are some good potential friends who are really serious about education and building futures for themselves. For my close circle of friends, college is definitely a must, not maybe, and all of them are completely serious about their grades. Just stay away from the people who don't give a dang... Also, colleges look at a lot of factors like involvement in extracurricular activities and the community, school rank, gpa, difficulty of courses, and etc. It's really difficult to find all of that if you're not going to an actual school. And for teacher recommendations- if it's your parents writing them, I would think some colleges might consider them biased. Another thing- teachers went to school to learn about their subjects and how to teach it and every few months or so they have to learn new ways to teach effectively. High school teachers are more specialized in their respective fields of teaching than your parents would be in the whole curriculum. It is awkward to not be in the same grade as people you used to know, but that does happen. I have a friend who was in 8th grade when I was in 7th grade- she's very smart and had a near perfect score on the math section of the SAT when she was in 8th grade. After 8th grade, though, she decided to take a year off from school and be homeschooled. Now, she's in ninth grade, same as me. Everyone she knew is a year above her. Finally, you can't stay home your entire life. You have to actually go to college (assuming you don't take online, long distance courses...) and deal with fellow students and with professors who have multitudes of students to teach, not just you, and who go at different paces with different styles of teaching. If you're homeschooled, you pretty much have the same teacher(s) every year, and you are their only student. That's a huge change and pretty hard to get adjusted to. Those are my reasons but eventually, it's up to you. Best of luck! (:

I am home-schooled and my Mom wants me to go to high-school because she wants me to get a degree but it's totally up to you and your family for making that kind of a decision.

It depends on: 1) How much time your parents can commit to your education. 2) How much education your parents have. 3) How much money your parents can commit to your education. 4) If the quality of the school system is less than what you can get by being homeschooled. 5) If there is some other reason why you should or should not be homeschooled.
