Answer:
Pros: Individualized education that can be custom fit the learning style and interests of each student Ability to seek out more hands on/field-trip opportunities Ability to move at the speed that the student needs in each subject "School work" can be finished in much less time than a typical school day because of teacher/student ration, no wasted time on home-room, period changes etc. Lack of being bound by age/grade level/ school district etc. Not bound by the public school calendar for vacations etc "School" can take place anywhere at any time. Socializing and socialization (which are 2 different things BTW) takes place in the real world, vs. the segregated setting of public school. Cons: Putting up with ignorant stereo-types spouted off by those who never learned to think outside of the public school box. ETA: What you are describing in your additional details is home-bound school and not homeschooling. With homeschooling, you would withdraw from your current school, pick your own curricula and follow the homeschool laws for your state.

Well first you get to have everything planned in your pace. You can learn at your own conveniance. You don't have to worry about distractions, or missing out on a lesson because you would be able to go back and study it all over again. You aren't pressured by teachers. You aren't pressured to turn in a lab. They allow you to have more time to work on it if you need it. There aren't really any negatives because if you worry about making friends, then you would need to be apart of something that is outside of school to be able to have new friends. Although they do have field trips where you get to meet the teachers and students. You have to be very responsible when it comes to home schooling because only you can teach yourself. But it's the best. Not to mention, waking up whenever you want.
The good things are things like a better environment, you can do your work while you eat breakfast or even go up to your room and sit on your bed and do it, it's more comfortable, and if you will have a nice peaceful place to work, much less distracting. You only have the rules of your house to follow, so you don't have to worry about some picky school rules. You can ask parents/siblings for help whenever needed. A lot of the time, parents aren't picky with when you wake up or do what subject, I never really had to follow a strict schedule when homeschooled, I was allowed to do whatever subject, whenever I wanted. Which is nice when you have a subject you just love and want to do first, or save for last so you can do it as long as you want. ^^ You can talk if it helps you work. You can get drinks/go to the bathroom/eat/listen to music(if parents allow it) whenever you want/need to. All your school supplies is around you! You don't have to worry about accidentally leaving stuff at home. Need something from the shelf? It's not like asking your teacher to go to your locker, normally you can just get up and grab it. School can be completed FASTER. When I was homeschooled I easily finished my school before lunch time. There aren't people slowing you down, you work, you finish it, your done. ^^ Some people say less time to go out and hang with people, go to the park, whatever, but if you can finish your school quickly, you have the rest of the day off, you could even do a day ahead so the next day, you have nothing to do! If you have homeschooled friends who get their school done quick too, you have the rest of the day to chat(online or in RL), go places.. Whatever! Bad things... Sometimes it's hard to make new friends that aren't online friends when homeschooled, unless you go places often. If you stay home alot except for school you wont see people often. Public schools offer some things homeschooling doesnt. (I never could get into an art class till I started being public schooled, while you can find art classes, if you don't go out places much or have the time, you wont be able to do them.) --- There are tons of good things about homeschooling. ^^ I have some anxiety issues too, homeschooling can be good for that, but public schooling has helped me get over it a bit. :) Another suggestion of mine if you become homeschooled, join the YWP nanowrimo! (ywp.nanowrimo.org) its a writing thing that you do for fun, but you can meet other people, have a great time, there's games and sometimes, in all the fun, your parents will count it as school. ;) Hope that helped. :)
What you describe is not "home schooling" as usually defined by the law and a lot of home schoolers. You would still be enrolled in a public school, in their independent study program, or home study program. Our district has one, but they allow parents to use whatever materials they want. The parents are the teachers, the school ones are just there to advice and record keep. It sounds like you will have to use the same materials as the classroom. So, actually, all you get from "home school" is staying away from the physical school. That is a fine reason. But, there is so much more to home school! If you do it on your own, with your parents as teachers, you can really pick what interests you and take as much time as you want on things. Or move faster. Give it a try, if it works fine. You can always try something else if it doesn't. Like online classes, there are usually several in each state that are free.
Pros-Study in a comfy enviorment, less distractions ( depends ), you get more attention specially if you need help since the class is very small,no school drama Cons- Can't really meet new people, group activities wont work out, feild trips and other stuff are just not the same, your parents might be more tough on you you wont get away with anything like not finishing your homework
Pros of being home schooled = better education, more one on one time, flexible school hours cons of being home schooled = lack of social skills, one teacher for 20+ students, non flexible school hours I know two home schooled girls who have several friends, but if they were alone with strangers they would have no idea how to act. They are completely ignorant of what normal high school kids do, and they never take timed test. So their testing skills stink. But they are much more book smart than me, and I make A's and B's in my public school. But it really depends on the system that you use for a home school. Every home school is different just like every school/classroom is different.

This is easy. I did an assignment like this when I was in 5th grade. Pros: there is one on one tutoring, easier to learn. Also, you can get help more easily. Cons: you won't be able to socialize as easily as others when older, you don't learn as much as in a public school, becasue the teachers have more experience with kids, better then being homeschooled. There are quite a few more pros and cons, but it seems I have forgot... Sorry! Hopefully, you see the right choice for you. Personally, I would choose to stay in public school, because it helps you learn what real life is in the outside world. There are bullies, difficulties, friendships, everything. Lots of experiences too. In homeschool, you wouldn't get all those. :/ Good Luck! :)
