I was in the same boat @ 6 months ago. I thought maybe i would just do things by the seat of my pants since my children are so young, But the more I got into sourcing resources the more I was inclined to at least define my approach. Definately do the following: Assess children current knowledge in the basic areas Establish a work space. This could be a corner or entire room, but be flexible a know that learning will not be contained to four walls. Establish learning objectives either weekly or monthly based upon what you'd like to get accomplished or your children's topic of intrest. Again be flexible, your week may start with ecology and migrate into astronomy. Go with what your children are interested in. Set up a calendar of places to go, people to see and things to do. Create a resource list of every potential place, person or event that will be instrumental in your childs education. Get on email and snail mail list for local happenings. My family gains cultural insight from fre evnts sponsered by our local parks and rec, museums and library. Join a support group!!! That way you can get best practice ideas from others without having to reinvent he wheel. Embrace the journey and HAVE FUN!!! Good Luck!

Are you wanting to homeschool them on your own with no help or would you prefer to have some guidance and assistance? Riverside county has some great Charter/homeschool groups you can use. Some of them even help pay for extra curricular activities like dance, Tae Kwondo, and gymnastics. The Charter programs are free and they offer free tutoring at nearby buildings located within the inland empire. One of the names which I can remember was Julian homeschool schools, one of my sons teachers recommended them. Eagle Peak I believe is the name of another one. There is also a public school in Temecula which has a homeschool program and you do not need to live in Temecula to use it. If you want to homeschool on your own, find a teacher store. There is one in Riverside and one in Murrieta. I hope this helps. Reading your question over again, are you concerned about legal issues and what you need to be doing?

Since you say you have already tried all the homeschooling websites on the Internet, and they were not helpful to you, I would recommend joining a local homeschool support group. That way, you can meet with experienced homeschoolers who can answer your questions in person and get you headed in the right direction.

hi. im 15 and im homeschooled right now. well its not really homeschool, its online. its all credited online christian school. www.themorningstaracademy.org <<< make sure you put .org and not .com this is my second year doing it. its VERY flexible. i do all the work on my own time. my family and i travel alot too. and to tell you the truth ive learned more there then i have at a normal school. the only thing i dont like about it is i dont get to see my friends as much because i live in the country. im not sure if you can do it this late.. but i would seriously consider it for the next school year if you want your children homeschooled. you dont have to do anything. its completely online. the teachers post the daily lessons on there along with tests that are graded by them. and you can chat with the teacher whenever you need to if you dont understand something. i hope this helped.

You'll need to find out the laws and options in your state first and then choose what you feel is best for you. Remember... there are many different methods of "home teaching"... You do NOT have to bring the structured traditional school into your home. Depends on the grade you are starting with. In my home state you are not required to send an intent to homeschool if your child is pre-k. I checked HSLDA and it looks like in CA you are only required to "File an annual affidavit with the Superintendent of Public Instruction between October 1 and 15" .. plus CA requires you keep an attendance register.. sounds like my home state laws in many ways. I'm not quite sure if an affidavit is the same as an intent to homeschool, call your local board of education and ask, or find a local homeschool group and ask them.. I suggest you get your forms ready and mail them as soon as you can certified mail signature required so you receive back a signed card fr your records proving they received it.. -- I highly recommend this. If they are already in school you may need to find out from the BOE or a homeschool support group what is required to take them out of public school, some states have specific requirements for this. If you are interested in a faith based support group try Christian Home Educators of California.. even if you aren't interested in a faith based homeschool support group they will be able to tell you more specifics on what you need to do. . -- their contact info.. I believe in CA you need to file an intent with your school district. You'll also need to fill in and send the proper paperwork to your school district - assuming you're pulling your children from public school. I don't understand why "all the websites" haven't helped. Have you tried some specific to HS'ing in CA? Are you trying to find curriculum and/or just needing help with the day-to-day logistics of HS'ing?
