Is online homeschooling a great option for a teenager?

Answer:
It is for some, it isn't for others. I think you should work closely with your parents/tutor and be highly motivated if you want online school to work for you.

Yes. i am 14 and i do an online school. i been doing this for 2 years. In high school you can take classes there or at the skill center where you can take automotive law enforement daycare cosmotoligy and many other things. Which is very cool. My sister has gone to collage because of a program there. I think it is Great. email me (click on my avaitor) You still have friends but not at stupid school!! You can get a diploma not just a ged. Please email me though
Hey Y'all
Depends on the teenager. I feel the school system is a joke, teaches very little and pigeon holes kids into a geek, jock or glamor type person. When I got out of highschool I found out how very little I learned. In school you can only learn at the speed of the dumbest kid in class. Homeschooling allows you to go at your pace and no one else. As for the social skills that are a MUST. There is band, sports, YMCA, local old folks home and probably a 1000 other extracurricular activites that can be done and are a better education then making sure you are wearing the "in" thing to fit in.

im a teenager who was in a similar situation as ur daughter.. or teen.. son.. im currently in grade 11 and when i use to be in highschool i felt pressured to skip classes all the time.. do drugs.. sex and all that.. now im home schoold.. its better.. i work independntly and i go to this alternative school where its only for 2 hrs twice a week.. queit invorment.. the work is all from the public highschools.. they teach acedemic level or applied level.. college level or university level.. its great! I dont know if they have that where u live but its certanly something to look into.. having a part time job for the social interaction is also good idea for ur teen.. thats what i have too.. so its great! and i still keep in touch with my freinds through facebook and msn..

hi i am a homeschooler, and i do an online homeschool. i love it!!! you can move at your own pace, not at everyone elses. and the teachers make sure you stay one on one with them. unless your child is a major socialite, as long as she has friends i think homeschooling is great!! hope that helps :)

if you are in a district with poor education, I highly recommend homeschooling or cyber charter for your daughter. This is the new wave in schooling, and your child will still have her friends and you can also make new opportunities for her to socialize. Some traditional high schools have become horrible places full of bullying, peer pressure, drug dealing, sex romps, and most of all...poor education. we pulled our daughter out of public school in second grade, due to the poor curriculum. She went to private school til 8th grade (thats as high as the school went) and now is enrolled with pacyber. We are very happy with it. The school has field trips, a family link organization, and "fun Thursdays" at one of their office branches. I look at my neices that are still in that school, and I am horrified at their language, how the older one talks about sex all the time (she is only 13, 2 yrs younger than mine), has already had multiple boyfriends, and really lacks educationally. Kids today keep in touch with IM, emails, texting and so forth, that removing them from the negative atmosphere that seems to be spreading throughout schools will not harm her (or as the naysayers call it- "socially retard" her) in anyway.

Depends upon the kid and how social they are, if they are already anti-social, dont do it, if they have good friends and do after school activites but public school isnt working, I would consider it just make sure you know the kid well and know its the right thing to do. GOOD LUCK!!

I think homeschooling is a great option for the reasons you've listed. As for online homeschooling, it really depends on the student. You really have to be self motivated and able to work independently. Here are some of the pros and cons, and some possible providers: http://www.successful-homeschooling.com/computer-based-homeschooling.html Here are some other homeschooling methods: http://www.successful-homeschooling.com/homeschooling-methods.html Good luck!
