Talking and singing is a good way to get the child used to sounds. Allow interesting and safe objects to always be in reach, as this allows them to fully process the objects through touch. At six months you can read picture books to them and they will be able to associate images with different sounds.

most places it is fine as long as the child is comfortable with you but i think you should ask the person in charge that is what work experience is for and if you dont ask as many questions that you need to you wont learn as much as you need from the experience.

Actually you can pick them up if you want to and they are willing to let you ... but its a risk if you accidentally hurt them, not only you will be in trouble bt the nursery as well. So I would suggest you to avoid doing so.

You can let the children sit on your lap. Don't pick them up they will cry because they are very sensitive. Teach them nursery rhymes. Tell jokes (Not Offensive or Insulting). Play games that would be played by toddlers. Always agree with there idea even if its wrong.
