What are the requirements for a Nursery School or a playgroup?

Can a child go to playgroup and school nursery as well?

  • Answer:

Yes. You'd need to fit in the timings and make sure there is consistancy in the way the children are treated at both.

Of course. I know a lot of parents who have their children go part-time to nursery school (8-11:30) or go to nursery school for school hours (8-3), and then get picked up in the afternoon to do a playgroup or a sport of some nature. The only thing I'd worry about is if you're talking full-time preschool/day care (8 a.m. - 6 p.m.) and then a playgroup on top of that. At that point, I feel that it's far too much time in a group setting, away from any primary caregiver. Group settings, as beneficial as they are for social development, can be stressful on young children when in large doses. The same way adults are downright exhausted after a dinner party or whathaveyou that just went on for too long.

In theory they can but timetables would have to match up to make it possible. Also the child might find both exhausting and over stimulating.
