Answer:
I have taught in a Montessori and presently teach in a Public School setting. You need to go to Montessori and to any other programs that you think might fit your needs, you need to observe, you need to see the interactions between staff and children, between children and children. Do they talk about developmentally appropriate, individualizing instruction, or do they talk to you about tests? Young children do not and should not be taking tests in a quality early childhood program. Check out the NAEYC web site, and your state Early Childhoold Education web site they should have good reccomendations for you. Don't let the over achiever parent convince you, I have seen very intelligent well adjusted children in many programs as well as the opposite, the school needs to fit your child and your family.

I am a montessori preschool teacher and I can assure you 100% that montessori can teach a child the things she or he needs to know even in a very early age like spelling, reading, household chores, hygiene, math subjects that are being taught in higher grades but simplified so that children as young as 2,5 years old can adapt to,,,,montessori school also teaches discipline which I believe is very effective and needed in this generation, all you need to know is if this montessori school belongs to a montessori association and is a certified true montessori school, the reason for the outragous price tag is because of the wooden materials that the strudents use for montessori school is known for their materials and one thing that's common with the montessori system is the clean classrooms that they have, so I guess the price that these montessori schools offer is just right for the quality education they give to their students hope this could help,,,GOD BLESS

When I was considering putting my first child in Montosorri that the BEST place for a child is home with mom until 4 years old. When my daughter begged to go to school and we did put her in a Montosorri, Reno, Nevada, the school was accused of child molestations, and was closed down.
