What is a day nursery about?

What kind of dance would be best to teach nursery kids for their united nations day program?

    It is really hard to get 3 to 4 year olds to peform "on demand"...they are kids, after all. So I would keep it very, very simple. Just a simple song with simple motions would be best. If it is for the United Nations, then I know a great song from the greg and steve CD "we all live together". It is called "the world is a rainbow". You can come up with lots of simple motions for this (arching hands to make a rainbow, etc.).

Well, honestly, first I would protest having to do a "United Nations Day." But if we had to do it, I'd get a CD like "Children's Folk Dances" and piece together bits of songs representing different parts of the world. You can easily do the editing in Garageband on a Mac--not sure how on a PC. You can include the Mexican hat dance, the Hawaiin hula, Russian Troika, and whatever other ones you choose. If you don't know how to edit, just pick a few short songs. I think this particular CD might come with directions for how to do the different dances (not sure, though). Good luck!

You could put them in groups of 5 and have them display what modern music is like. ex) Five kids could be in a group and you could make them look like J-Pop stars. Like let them lip sync to a fun J-Pop song and pretend they are on a stage. Like someone could be the lead singer and the other kids background dancers. It doesn't have to be a complicated dance just something like them claping in time with the music. I wish I could direct somrthing like that.
