What are some activities you can do at a picnic?

What activities can we do with preschooler at the park except for swings or slides?

  • I am planning to take 25 3 - 5 year old kids out to the park for a picnic, but I need to plan out the activities for them. Any suggestion? thax

    If sand is available, let them dig for treasure. If you have time and helpers, bury some inexpensive trinkets for the kids to find. You can never go wrong with bubbles, either. I don't think kids ever outgrow bubbles. Go on a bug hunt. Let them catch a few without hurting them and observe them for a while. Give out prizes for the most unique looking bug or the most caught. A scavenger hunt would also be fun. Give the younger ones that can't read pictures of the items to find. Hope this helps. Have fun.

bring balls or a parachute. play a game like red rover or tag. anything that will let them run!

you could try a scavenger hunt. search for sticks, pine cones leaves ect...

Use music to develop their locomotor skills, music and movement are always a big hit with this age group. Happy Picnic !!!!

Take balls to play catch, bring bubbles to blow and have them chase, they can practice balance beam walking on lines in the sidewalk or on ropes you bring. If there is sand or pea gravel bring buckets and shovels. Depending on how many adults you have you could set up different areas and have the children rotate through in groups. We also bring kites, ribbons on strings and some of those cheap balsa airplanes to fly.

well hopefully there is going to be more than one person, you can set up a "barrier" with bright flags and explain to them that they can not go any further than the flags and you could set up a scavenger hunt
