I need ideas on what to do for a 2 yr old pre-school halloween party?

The party will only be about 30 min or less, all 2 yr olds (about 7). I need ideas on gifts for the gift bags and what kind of foods and/or treats. Also, it will be close to lunch. ...show more

Answer:
No candy. How about small pumpkins they can decorate with fingerpaint or washable markers? Biscuits cut into ghost shapes are fun but not full of sugar.

First, no masks. Many children that age are terrified of them. Give them each one pumpkin shaped cookie and some frosting, let them spread it with a plastic spoon and add sprinkles. Have them for desert at lunch. Give them big pieces of paper shaped like pumpkins and some black and orange tissue paper to glue on. Sing a couple of songs. That's more than enough. If you have to give goodie bags check the dollar store for ideas.Frankly, I don't see why you need a party for a holiday they don't understand and is likely to terrify them.

I teach a two year old class with six children. We all make masks to wear (this year I am painting faces). I usually buy all kinds of goodies from the party store (and oriental trading). We paint our pumpkins, and have a contest. I give a different prize to each one. We dance to monster mash and other songs. I hide candy through out the room. We play pin the face on the pumpkin (with felt) and bob for apples (each kid with a different bucket). Then we eat cookies and sandwiches with the bread cut with a pumpkin shaped cookie cutter. That's our Halloween party. I hope you like some of the ideas.

Give the kids some orange construction paper and let them tear it and glue it down on a paper plate. This will help them with their fine motor skills and they will have an adorable pumpkin to take home. The teacher can glue down the green vines using yarn or construction paper. Have fun!

Buy buckets at the 99cent store and fill them with orange play dough, bath type toys, even a wash rag. You can personalize each bucket by writing the name of each two year old on it. You can also make a pumpkin face on the buckets or draw pumkins. Carrot sticks and messy crackers are a hit, sweet potato pie might be another smashing hit. ...make it look like a pumpkin. Cheese is another creative idea, you can cut the cheeses up to look like things such as candy corn for Halloween. Most of the mothers will bring something just in case their toddlers aren't loving the menu so do not worry about anyone going hungry. p.s. the buckets make a terrific trick or treating bag for later that evening if the parents take them out trick or treating. I cannot believe some of the answers below, who recommends a haunted house for a group of two year olds, and candy?????

Make cupcakes ahead of time , have them frosted already. Precut licorice thin whips into small pieces (2 inch), have several small finger candies like M&M's or reeces peices, and let them make spiders or pumpkin faces on them. Kids love making stuff their selves. As for gift bags, since youhave already given them a big dose of sugar offer something more healthy in their bags like chewy granola bars or small bags of grapes or boxes of raisens.

a fun little treat is suckers. take a sucker (round) and cover it with a tissue. after that put a rubber band around the spot where the stick is meeting the sucker. after that draw a ghostly face on the tissue the kids will love it. cool little gifts are getting some little halloween candy. they have PEZ that have a pumpkins, ghosts, and witches on them. some even glow in the dark. for lunch take a couple cookie cutters and make sandwitches and cut them into pumkin shapes. or get a pizza and cut little slices out to make it look like a pumpkin. HAVE FUN!!!!
