If you can ride a train, you should be able to read a train schedule. Go to amtrak.com. Then click on the "Timetables" tab, go down the list of timetables and click on "Illinois/Missouri Services". Open the PDF file and go to the page with the "City of New Orleans - Illini - Saluki" train on it. The timetable shows that for the November 4, 2011 timetable three trains leave Carbondale for Kankakee (the closest station to Manteno) each day. The trip time is about 3 hours and 45 minutes.
